The Halaal Foundation of South Africa is a South African based organization, nationally and internationally, representing the Muslim Ummah on all matters relating to the consumption, purchase, sale, and general trade of products that need to meet the Halaal requirements. The Halaal Foundation of South Africa works towards guiding the Muslim community pertaining to the general application of the term Halaal with specific reference to Islamic dietary laws.
Halaal Foundation membership comprises of leading Theological Bodies and leading Professional Organizations of global repute. There is a large contingent of Muslims in South Africa and the number is ever increasing. It is with this in mind that the Halaal Foundation of South Africa together with other Halaal certifying bodies have taken the responsibilities to ensure that the Muslim Ummah consumes food that are strictly in terms of Shariah .
Importance
Halal income is a spirit of the body; it induces the body to do charitable work. Halal does not only refer to how our food is prepared and how our animal is slaughtered but also to how we earn our income.

Halal certified products demand a high level of hygiene, certain standards of cleanliness, safety and nutrition which fulfil the needs of consumers.
